Southern Scribe is looking for articles on
Southern regional writing and publishing. The zine is published on the
first of each month.
Topics:
- Author, editor, and publisher
interviews
- Regional history (from
colonial period forward; local historic sites of interests)
- Celebrating Our Culture
(traditions, rituals, and things uniquely Southern)
- Craft of Writing (techniques,
business, creativity, time-management, etc.)
- Genres: literary/general
fiction; biography/memoir; essay; short story; creative non-fiction;
history; literary criticism; poetry; children; romance; mystery;
horror/fantasy; inspirational. (Genre articles MUST relate to Southern
region).
Guidelines for Articles:
- Word count: 500 - 1000.
- Use block paragraphing and do
no indent paragraphs. Double space between paragraphs. Your font
for submission will be changed to Verdana if published.
- Attachments are not accepted.
Send plain text within e-mail message.
- Article title should be in
CAPS with your real name underneath.
- Provide a short bio to tag the
article. This should include your e-mail and URL address. If you
wish to promote a book, please include: title, author, publisher, ISBN, and
release date. The tag is limited to eight lines.
- At this time, Southern Scribe
is unable to pay writers for articles. For original articles, I will
buy first time rights for one month banner ads at the site.
- If the article is a reprint,
provide the name/url of the original publisher. Reprints with clear
copyright are welcomed. Payment is free exposure and whatever you
promote in your tag.
