                  Jazz Cats
by David R. Davis, Illustrated by Chuck Galey
               Pelican Publishing, 2001
               ISBN: 1-56554-859-0

Jazz Cats is a cute play on the term and a creative introduction to the musical landscape of New Orleans.  Using the slang of the natives, each verse reflects a personality or a locale of the Delta jazz scene.

David R. Davis has published pen-and-ink artwork, cartoons, poems, humor, and short stories in various magazine.  He is the creator of "Travels with Grandpaw," an Internet comic strip, and is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. Pelican also published his Redneck Night Before Christmas and Trucker's Night Before Christmas.

Illustrator Chuck Galey has illustrated over 30 books and contributed to magazines and advertising clients nationwide.

David Davis poetry charms children and adult readers.  His words with the beautiful artwork by Chuck Galey make Jazz Cats a unique table book and conversation piece.  I plan to use Jazz Cats as part of my Mardi Gras decorating scheme.
