Some children's books make great table books,
and this is one. Lowcountry A to Z is an alphabet book that reads
like a nature walk of coastal South Carolina or Georgia. Some of the coastal
treasures covered: alligator, crab, egret, kudzu, marsh, palmetto tree,
shrimp boat, and turtle. Hilton Head resident Betsy Strickland was inspired to to write this book after answering her sons' constant questions about the floral and fauna that makes the Lowcountry unique. She is a contributing writer and editor of Lowcountry Family Magazine. Award-winning photographer Eric Horan captures scenes of nature and local history that accompany the text. Fifteen years of his photography has been collected in the table book Carolina Nature, a photographer's view of the natural history in the Carolinas. Horan also produces an annual wall calendar of the Lowcountry. Pictures from Lowcountry A to Z can be found at www.lowcountryatoz.com.
