Hub City Writers Project continues to publish
unique books that promote the literary arts of South Carolina. TWENTY:
South Carolina Poetry Fellows, features the work of twenty Palmetto
State writers who have received the state's highest honor in creative
writing. Each poet was asked for five of their favorite poems and an essay
on their lives as poets.
What results is an entertaining and informative journey into the world of poetry. The joy and game of language as the poets condense their thoughts to present profound ideas or emotional moments. How poetry is meant to be a living art -- to be read aloud and shared. The poets include: Paul Allen, Jan Bailey, Cathy Smith Bowers, Jessica Bundschuh, Stephen Corey, Robert Cumming, Debra Daniel, Carol Ann Davis, Curtis Derrick, Linda Ferguson, Starkey Flythe, Angela Kelly, John Lane, Susan Ludvigson, Terri McCord, John Ower, Ron Rash, Paul Rice, Warren Slesinger, and Kathleen Whitten. TWENTY is a collaboration between the Hub City Writers Project and the South Carolina Arts Commission. The collection was edited by Kwame Dawes, the Distinguished Poet-in-Residence at the University of South Carolina and director of the South Carolina Poetry Initiative.
