Ruby Elzy
- An
Interview with David E. Weaver
- by Joyce Dixon
A
healthy curiosity and a desire to know more about a person or topic has lead
to many a great book. In much the same manner David Weaver started a journey
that became a passion -- that of learning about soprano Ruby Elzy, who
created the role of Serena in the original production of Porgy and Bess. But
Ruby was so much more than that...so much more.
Celebrating Small Town America
An Interview with Jim Black
by Orrin C. Judd
Often the birth of a
novel originates in a self-published gift for family and friends. That is
how Jim Black created There's a River Down in Texas back in 1999. As
word spread, other wanted copies and over the next two years he made and
sold over seven hundred.

The Personality-Driven Humor Book
-
By Marsha Marks
There comes a time
in every writer's life when her insecurities rise to the surface and cause
her to freak out over every edited word. This time occurred for me, in
November 2004 as my first personality-driven humor book FLYING BY THE
SEAT OF MY PANTS: Flight Attendant Adventures on a Wing and a Prayer,
came back from line edit.

Southern Poet
Laureates 2005
- By Joyce Dixon
The poet laureate is a mysterious appointment. There is no uniform term
length. It could be two-years in one state and a lifetime appointment in
another. Some are appointed by the state legislature, while the governor
appoints others.
By Joyce Dixon
Byron Herbert Reece was a simple man of the
land, and it was his love of the land that inspired his writings. Though his
life was cut short by his own hands, his body of work lives on. In 2005,
Reece is being remembered and honored by the State of Georgia as
"Georgia's Appalachian Poet/Novelist."
Porch Tales
Porch Tales are personal essays that
bring memories of family, community, place and all those favorite
stories passed on the porch.
